Message: “MCD doesn’t’ have proper read write access to your hard drive" Or "Permission denied”

This message typically happens when try to open MCD and try to add a quote or open a chart. Typically it halts MCD's opening progress at each stage with the “proper read write access to your hard drive” message then continues anyway but neither the Real-Time feature nor charts will work.

SOLUTION:

Add MCD as exception to your firewall
This will MCD to to get out to the servers it needs to retrieve data from. This is a very common issue now that Firewalls have become so common on home computers.

OR

Reinstall MCD.
Reinstalling MCD is a blanket approach to gettng around your computer's firewall. When you reinstall MCD it "re-registers" it with your firewall and should give you the choice to "allow" or "block" MCD.
